How difficult is it to get OPM disability retirement benefits?

Return to FAQs

Transcript:

It is possible for the employee to apply for OPM disability on their own or alternatively they could seek the advice and counsel of an attorney. There are three parts to the application, there is the employee portion, the physician portion, and the employer portion. If everything doesn’t match up with the standards of disability set out by OPM, it’ll be denied and then you’re in the appeal process. So, just be sure if you plan to do it, you’ve got to follow the rules.
